Christopher Hennessy International Tournament

What another fantastic weekend in Frank Sheehy Park! There was great football on show all weekend as players from Berlin GAA, St. Kiernans London, John Mitchels, Clounmacon and Emmets played out a brilliant tournament from start to finish in memory of the late Christopher Hennessy of Listowel. The first round games took place on Friday night and the competition culminated on Saturday with St.Kiernans/Clounmacon coming out victorious over Berlin after extra time. There were plenty of other activities to keep everyone entertained throughout the weekend with the Town Park Run on Saturday morning, an exhibition game between Emmets Ladies and Berlin Ladies and a BBQ to close out the weekend after the Final. A huge thanks to everyone that made the weekend possible, in particular Christy Walsh, Norah Browne, Mark Griffin and the Hennessy family. Also thanks to all the players and referees Seamus Mulvihill and Dermot Hughes. It was truly a brilliant weekend which will live long in the memory.

Thank you Martin

Thank you Martin

In the midst of our Community Fun Day celebrations on Saturday last a special presentation was made to our groundsman of 25 years, the great Martin Scanlon. Our Field Committee Chairman Tadhg Moriarty gave a rousing speech in appreciation of a man who has given everything to Emmets over the years and has put his heart and soul into our field and club facilities. Martin was joined on the day by his family and close friends and by the men that have soldiered with him over the years. He has taken a step back from his role in recent times but as Tadhg mentioned he still has a key so I’m sure he will be keeping a close eye on proceedings to make sure we are all working hard!
Thanks for all of your hard work Martin and best wishes to you and your family going forward. You have been a huge part of Emmets and you always will be.

Welcome Azure Gaels!

Welcome Azure Gaels!

Welcome to Listowel Azure Gaels GAA!
What a great weekend of sport and craic in Frank Sheehy Park over the weekend. Our friends from France and a mixture of Emmets legends and stars of the future put on a great exhibition of football before afterwards enjoying some refreshments in the clubhouse courtesy of Christy Walsh. The official twinning of both clubs took place on Sunday after our Community Fun Day.
A great weekend in Frank Sheehy Park

A great weekend in Frank Sheehy Park

What an unbelievable weekend of fun and games in Frank Sheehy Park!

We were blessed with the weather on Saturday last for our annual Jim Corridan tournament and Community Fun Day both of which were a huge success. We were absolutely delighted with the amount of families and children who made the most of the day and enjoyed our complimentary bbq, before taking part in an open training session with Brian Scanlan, Athletics with Kevin Lynch and many other activities such as face painting, penalty shootouts and a tug of war among others. There was plenty on offer too for the adults with Irish music and dancing, a presentation on Listowel/North Kerry by Vincent Carmody and an exhibition game against our French visitors Azure Gaels. Thanks so much to everyone that helped out on the day, with sponsorship, food and everything else – there are way too many of ye to mention! We are very lucky to have so many brilliant people involved in our Club.
